Canadian country-pop superstar Shania Twain has given an insight into what fans can expect on her latest and fifth studio album.
Twain announced that she’d be making a welcome return to music in 2011, arriving with brand new single ‘Today is Your Day’. After signing up for a two-year residency in Las Vegas’ Caesar’s Palace, she began planning her next record - and has taken a break from the shows to work on it.
The follow-up to her uber successful 2002 record ‘Up!’ - which has gone on to become an incredible 11x platinum in the US, having sold 20 million copies worldwide - Twain is now in the process of finding a producer to work with her.
“I'm pretty much there with my songs, and I'm really just sitting on the fence in regards to a producer. So I'm listening to a lot of records, doing my homework there, and trying to determine who is the right match."
She went on to reveal that one record in particular was that of Lana Del Rey’s, saying that she was ‘kind of stuck on the sound of that record’. Twain also added:
“I do want it to be perfect, and I want it to be something that I really enjoy and a product of my inspiration - not a product of necessarily anything I've done before or anyone I've been before in regards to making records, because it's been a long time.
“I'm different, I've evolved, and I want that to be reflected in the music. At the same time I don't want to abandon the root of what I am. So it's just really determining where am I really at and just looking through that. It's not as obvious as it seems it should be.”
Twain returns to her Las Vegas residency on October 15, and will be working on her album up until then. It’s unknown when her LP will be out, but it’s most likely that it’ll hit shelves next year - for updates on the megastar and her next record, stay with Stereoboard!
