Indie Band The Yellow Dogs At Centre Of Murder-Suicide

Monday, 11 November 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Members of the Yellow Dogs, a band comprised of Iranian expatriates based in Brooklyn, are among the dead following a shooting in East Williamsburg.

Two of the band's number were killed, along with a third musician, while a fourth man, reported by the band's manager to be an artist, was injured and is currently in a stable condition. The shooter later took his own life.

Initial reports suggested that the gunman was a former member of the Yellow Dogs, but the band's manager, Ali Salehezadeh, told the Associated Press that he was in fact in a group called the Free Keys and had not been on good terms with the victims for some time due to "petty conflict".

The Yellow Dogs formed in 2006 and were featured in the 2009 film No One Knows About Persian Cats.
