Death From Above 1979 To Release New Album In September

Wednesday, 11 June 2014 Written by Huw Baines

Death From Above 1979 have confirmed a September release for ‘The Physical World’, their first album in almost a decade.

The duo, Jesse F Keeler and Sebastien Grainger, split back in 2006 but reformed three years ago. Their new album was recorded in LA with producer Dave Sardy and is the follow up to their debut, 'You're A Woman, I'm A Machine'. It'll arrive on September 9 in the US.

In an interview for this week's NME, they expanded on their reasons for making it. Grainger said:

“No matter what Jesse and I do, on whatever scale of success it's sat on, there's always some kind of reference to Death From Above. It's only frustrating because it's so lazy. So we're putting out a Death From Above record and if the press is like, 'It's not what we expected,' or however they react to it, it's like, 'Well, you've been fucking asking for it.'"

The album will be followed by further live shows, with Grainger adding that it will give them the freedom to “play the shows we want to play”.
