Hop Farm Founder Banned From Staging Live Events

Friday, 01 August 2014 Written by Huw Baines

Vince Power, organiser of the Hop Farm festival, has been banned from staging live music in public in a High Court judgement.

The BBC reports that the decision follows a claim from the Performing Rights Society for Music (PRS) that Power did not have the correct licence in place for events between 2009 and 2012. He did not offer a defence.

Power’s ban will be enforced until he updates his licence, while the promoter has also been ordered to pay £7,987 in costs.

It should be noted that the Hop Farm Music Festival, which was staged this year and featured sets from Ray Davies and Brian Wilson, is a separate entity.
