The track is taken from the Danish four piece's debut album, 'A Youthful Dream', which is set for release on June 10. Discussing the track, singer-songwriter Mikkel Holm Silkjær said:
“I wrote The Child while working a summer job at a crop farm last year. I stayed at the farm for ten days and had very little to do besides working and playing the guitar. It’s a reflection on the conflict between being an artist but also being successful...When you start playing music you do it for the sake of writing music but when you’re signed to a label there’s commercial pressure. There are good things and bad things about that. One of the good things certainly is that you have to reinvent yourself within or beyond your music, which I tried to do with The Child, as it’s a bit different to a lot of Yung songs.”
Yung will start the UK leg of their European tour on June 9 in Guildford, following which they will make stops in Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, London and Brighton. Tickets are on sale now, priced from £5.00, plus fees.
