Lil Peep Dies Aged 21

Thursday, 16 November 2017 Written by Laura Johnson

Lil Peep has died aged 21.

A publicist for the Long Island hip hop artist, real name Gustav Åhr, has confirmed the news to Stereoboard, though a cause of death has not yet been announced.

Sarah Stennett, CEO of First Access Entertainment, a music, management and publishing company that represented the rapper, said:

“I am shocked and heartbroken.  I do not believe Peep wanted to die, this is so tragic. He had big goals and dreams for the future which he had shared with me, his team, his family and his friends.  He was highly intelligent, hugely creative, massively charismatic, gentle and charming. He had huge ambition and his career was flourishing.

"I have spoken to his mother and she asked me to convey that she is very, very proud of him and everything he was able to achieve in his short life. She is truly grateful to the fans and the people who have supported and loved him.”

This autumn Lil Peep released his debut album, 'Come Over When You're Sober (Part One)', which followed up last year's 'Hellboy' mixtape. He supported it with a European tour, which included UK dates in Manchester and London.

Since the news of his death a number of tributes have been posted online, including notes from Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz and Post Malone.
