The Temperance Movement - A Deeper Cut (Album Review)
Fri 23 Feb 2018
There was a time in rock ‘n’ roll’s glorious history when a band’s third album was seen as a pivotal moment, one that would either catapult them to stardom or sound their death knell. In today’s climate the chance of any rock act achieving huge success seems about as likely as Cristiano Ronaldo voluntarily removing all the mirrors from his mansion. Yet fans have never given up hope that maybe, just maybe, a group will emerge to buck the trend.

If You Have Ghost: The Evolution of Metal's Satanic Disco Showstoppers
Fri 26 Oct 2018
Illustration: Sam Davies There is a world of difference between Ghost today and the dark, shadowy group that emerged from an occult realm with the release of ‘Opus Eponymous’ at the turn of the decade. Once a band that disgorged Sabbathian doom metal splattered with gothic horror imagery, they have evolved into a rock spectacle that’s part pantomime, part musical and part Satanic disco.
Greta Van Fleet - Anthem Of The Peaceful Army (Album Review)
Wed 24 Oct 2018
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re probably aware that Michigan’s Greta Van Fleet are one of the first young rock bands in a long time to generate a truly massive amount of hype ahead of the release of their debut full length. After two very successful EPs - 2017’s ‘Black Some Rising’ and ‘From The Fires’ - we have ‘Anthem Of The Peaceful Army’ in our hands, and it’s an interesting proposition.

Mon 08 Oct 2018
Photo: Gene Kirkland There’s something bittersweet about this excellent third album from Slash, Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators. ‘Living The Dream’ is bursting at the seams with old school, anthemic rock ‘n’ roll of the highest calibre, but at the same time it’s hard to shake the feeling that the person behind such exhilarating music and exceptional guitar work is the very last of a dying breed.
Unheavenly Creatures: Coheed and Cambria Turn A New Page
Mon 05 Nov 2018
Concept is sometimes a dirty word in rock ‘n’ roll but it’s one that’s impossible to avoid when you’re talking about New York prog heroes Coheed and Cambria, who have crafted a rich catalogue set against the science-fiction backdrop of The Amory Wars, a comic book written by frontman Claudio Sanchez.
