Tesseract Announce New Album 'Sonder' And Accompanying North American Tour, Share New Track Luminary

Friday, 09 February 2018 Written by Jon Stickler

Tesseract have announced the release of their fourth studio album and an accompanying North American tour.

The British band will release the follow up to 2015's 'Polaris' on April 20 via Kscope, before embarking on a worldwide tour beginning in North America.

The band will be joined by Plini and Astronoid for the North American leg, which kicks off on April 19 in Boston and culminates on May 24 at New York's Irving Plaza. Tickets go on sale at 10am on February 9.

'Sonder' will be released on CD and as a 2CD deluxe edition featuring a binaural album bonus disc, as well as a multiple coloured vinyl, including a picture disc. Speaking about the binaural version, an immersive listening experience designed by Klang: Fabrik for headphones listening, bassist Amos Williams said:

"The concept is to push past the restrictions of a stereo headphone mix and create an accurate '3D' space in which positioning outside of the normal Left Right axis can occur. This is something that every artist that uses in ear monitors on stage wishes to recreate; the real and accurate positioning of instruments. We immediately felt that this technology could be applicable to us in the studio. Tesseract loves to bring what it does in the studio to the stage, but this time it's experimenting with bringing a live element to the studio."

TesseracT’s first three albums earned them, in vocalist Dan Tompkins’ own words, “three different fanbases”. If you can stomach scrolling through online opinions, you’ll find this to be true. Fans adore their forays into djent, brooding soudscapes, unfathomable prog wizardry, and their mix of clean and screamed vocals, to varying degrees.

Ihsahn is a genius. It’s a big, divisive word, but he’s proven it time and time again.
