The Pineapple Thief Go Under The Knife In Video For New Single Try As I Might

Thursday, 09 August 2018 Written by Helen Payne

With 'Dissolution' due at the end of August, the Pineapple Thief have shared a second cut from their new album.

Try As I Might, although less rhythm-focused than its predecessor Far Below, has crisp, clean percussion courtesy of King Crimson and Porcupine Tree drummer Gavin Harrison, to accompany solid guitar chords and thoughtful vocals from Bruce Soord. It’s the band’s second album to feature the drumming veteran, again putting this playing high up in the mix.

The video, meanwhile, sees Soord undergo eye surgery then swim away off the coast of Lyme Regis, a comment on our hyper-connected world and living with the consequences. Check it out below.

The Pineapple Thief have UK and European shows planned until March 2019.

In 2015, Twenty One Pilots got their big break. The Ohioans’ fourth album, ‘Blurryface’, summited the US chart and sent two singles into similarly rarefied air. The following year another song, Heathens, ushered in the soundtrack to the hit film, Suicide Squad. The resulting period has seen the band ascend to arena-filling stardom and paved the way for ‘Trench’, a record that combines their distinctive blend of elaborate production with re-upped nu-metal.
