Blood Red Shoes Announce New Album 'Get Tragic' And Accompanying Tour Dates

Tuesday, 18 September 2018 Written by Jon Stickler

Blood Red Shoes will return with their fifth studio LP plus UK and European tour dates in early 2019.

The Brighton-based grunge duo will put out the long awaited follow up to self-titled effort on January 25. The story of 'Get Tragic', meanwhile, can be traced way back to the relentless gigging off the back of their 2014 record.

Vocalist and guitarist Laura Mary-Carter packed her bags for Los Angeles and silence became the norm between the duo. Drummer Steven Ansel, meanwhile, took drugs and went clubbing. "I don’t remember a lot about it," he says. "Classic break-up move, right?"

"That’s the whole running theme of this record," he adds. "The reason we called it Get Tragic is because we realised that everything we’ve been doing over the last three years is kinda tragic! Just like, 'Ooh, I hate you, I’m going to America to find myself', and like 'Ooh, I’m gonna party for the rest of the year!' Everything about it is such a cliché - we were like, 'We’ve turned into a fucking tragedy!'"

To celebrate the album news, the band have shared lead its single, Mexican Dress, a song about the lengths people will go to for attention. Head below to listen to the track and view the album's cover art and tracklist.

The band will accompany the release with tour dates in the UK and Europe, including intimate shows at London's Borderline, Manchester's Soup Kitchen and Glasgow's Stereo. Tickets are on sale now, priced at £14.00 plus booking fees.
