London Venue KOKO Closes Temporarily For Structural Work

Tuesday, 25 September 2018 Written by Laura Johnson

KOKO has closed its doors temporarily.

The London venue, located in Camden, shut down on September 21 "while structural remedial work is carried out" and is expected to reopen in mid-October.

Several events have been cancelled as a result, while Dreadzone's September 27 show has been shifted to the Islington Assembly Hall. Peter Hook & The Light's scheduled date on the following day, meanwhile, will take place at the Electric Ballroom, as will the Coral's October 18 set.

Palaye Royale's October 7 date has moved to the Electric Brixton, along with Kamelot's October 12 show. Jilted John's October 8 date will be staged at 229.

Head here for details. The venue's spokesman, Larry Seymour, said:

“Our consultant surveyors recently made us aware of structural issue with this 117 year-old building. The protection and well-being of our customers and staff is of paramount importance and we have therefore decided to close the venue while work is carried out.

We place the utmost value on our relationships with our clients but we were unable to work around the diary. The nature of the work means that there is no alternative to a full closure.

We offer sincere and heartfelt apologies to all our clients and customers who have been affected by the closure. Our contractors are working diligently and at all speed to ensure that we are able to welcome back a full programme of events as soon as possible.”
