Hatchie Continues Sparkly Dream Pop Approach With New Single Adored

Thursday, 25 October 2018 Written by Helen Payne

Hatchie knows what the cool kids want.

Brisbane-based Harriette Pilbeam continues her dreamy, twinkling aesthetic on her new single, Adored, further expanding on a process that has so far won her support slots with Alvvays and Snail Mail.

A jangling, three chord progression drives the summery pop track, along with Pilbeam's irresistible vocal melody and relatable lyrics. "Don't wanna be adored, don't wanna be ignored", she sings.

Commenting on the track, Hatchie noted:

"Adored is a song that's been floating around for a few years now so I'm really excited it's finally found it's place with this release. I've been playing it live since my first show but didn't feel it fit on either my EP or forthcoming album. It's about always wanting more than what you have, even if it's perfect."

The video's nostalgic element takes viewers back to makeshift, awkward high school bands, talent competitions and that grainy, home-video style recording that your parents, not knowing how to focus the lens, shot from the audience.

Hatchie has recently been confirmed to open for the Vamps on their spring Four Corners UK tour, as well as headlining London's Electrowerkz on November 1.

Hatchie Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows:

Thu November 01 2018 - LONDON Electrowerkz
