Young Fathers have unveiled a new track.
Cocoa Sugar was recorded during the sessions for their third LP of the same name, but never made the final cut. It gets a release today as a double a-side single along with a David Wrench edit of the album’s Border Girl.
Much like the tracks that made the record, Cocoa Sugar is synth heavy and has an almost gospel style rhythm. After a floaty introduction, the song goes full pelt in the chorus with a distinct raise in dynamics, repetitive bass drums and simple backing vocals. A deep synth, the same heard in their song Toy, rings out in the last verse before the song ends with dramatic isolated vocal harmonies. Take a listen below.
'Cocoa Sugar' won the electronic hip-hop trio this year's Scottish Album Of The Year Award, and they are set to support it with a UK tour this winter, kicking things off in Glasgow on November 30 and concluding the run with a show at the O2 Academy Brixton in London on December 11.
