Regina Spektor Shares New Track Birdsong

Monday, 12 November 2018 Written by Laura Johnson

Regina Spektor has shared a new track, Birdsong.

It was written for Panorama, the sixth episode of the Romanoffs, an Amazon Prime show by Matthew Weiner. Introducing the short song and why she wrote it, on Facebook Spektor said: "This episode felt like a love letter to the deep rich culture of Mexico & to people just trying to find and accept themselves as they are."

The atmospheric track clocks in at just one minute 41 seconds and sees Spektor's vocals accompanied solely by an acoustic guitar. "Out of the quiet, out of the sunrise, I hear the birdsong give way to sirens," run the opening lines.

Spektor's last album was 2016's 'Remember Us to Life' and she also appeared on Seekers and Finders by Gogol Bordello, the title track of their 2017 LP.
