Du Blonde Unveils Surreal Video For New Single Angel

Thursday, 17 January 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

Du Blonde, aka Beth Jeans Houghton, continues to tease her upcoming new album with a bizarre video for her fuzzy new track, Angel.

It's the second to be lifted from her upcoming sophomore LP under the moniker, 'Lung Bread For Daddy', which is set for release on February 22 via Moshi Moshi, following up Buddy which arrived alongside details of the record back in October.

The follow up to 2015’s 'Welcome Back To Milk' sees Houghton taking the reins on production, instrumentation, music video direction and album artwork. Her latest video finds her donning a papier-maché mask and pink Stetson hat while performing alongside a man in a plastic horse head. Speaking about Angel's lyrics, she said:

"The line 'So help me God I hope that you weren’t lying when you laid my body down' is a reference to me ending a relationship with someone who had promised me a lot of things. It ended pretty abruptly when I realised they had never planned to go through with any of our plans. I wanted the song to sound like that first walk you take away from a situation like that. Angry, dumbfounded, but finally free."

Houghton will support the album's release with a string of UK dates next month, including stops in Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds, Bristol and London. Tickets are on sale now.
