Nick Murphy, fka Chet Faker, has announced his sophomore album.
The follow up to 2014's 'Built On Glass' is called 'Run Fast Sleep Naked' and will arrive on April 26 via Downtown/Future Classic/Opulent.
The record came together when Murphy travelled the world solo with just a microphone for company, recording in his grandmother’s living room, a Tokyo studio, a rented family holiday home in New Zealand, and his New York City apartment. The bulk of the album, though, was laid down at Figure 8 in Brooklyn, where he also called in more than 15 musicians and a full orchestra. He said:
“It’s almost like I was finding different shapes and colours from around the world, and then bringing them back and putting them all together. If you sit in one space for a long period of time, you get settled and stop experiencing the world in a new way. There’s a kind of power in leaping into the void without set structures and systems in place.”
Head below to check out the record's artwork, tracklist and the video for its lead single, Sanity. The track is an intricate composition that fuses the best of pop and soul.
