Chino Moreno's Side Project Saudade Release Chelsea Wolfe Collaboration Shadows And Light

Deftones' Chino Moreno has shared a Saudade collaboration with Chelsea Wolfe, Shadows and Light.
Comprising of Moreno, guitarist Dr. Know of Bad Brains, keyboardist John Medeski of jazz-funk trio Medeski Martin & Wood, bassist Chuck Doom of Moreno’s band Crosses, and drummer Gil Sharone of Marilyn Manson and Team Sleep, Saudade released their eponymous debut single back in 2016.
Three years later, the band have returned with a second single. It's a haunting, proggy duet with goth rock and doom metal guitarist and vocalist Chelsea Wolfe featuring both ethereal vocals and a blazing guitar solo.
Additionally, Moreno recently stoked up the buzz around the impending ninth Deftones album after he compared the material the band are currently working on to their 2000 third album, 'White Pony'. He told Kerrang!:
"We’re definitely getting into experimental sort of modes, which is the funnest phase that we get into. One of the biggest records in our career is obviously 'White Pony', and it’s our most commercially successful record, as well, but that was also one of our most experimental records, especially for the time when it came out. That record, making it was… what’s a good word to describe it? We felt really free.
We basically made whatever we liked, whatever was happening at that moment. It didn’t really go along with what was going on around us, as far as our contemporaries and where other music was."
Further specifics on the follow up to 2016's 'Gore' are yet to be revealed, but it's expected to land sometime this year.
