Gimme is the first single from the vocalist since 2017’s Underdog, and is a bold statement of dark pop, comprised of stuttering synths and vocals snippets. Written in collaboration with Buddy Ross, the pristine electronic production comes from Hudson Mohawke, whose credits include Kanye West and Drake, as well as BJ Burton who has worked with Bon Iver.
Banks, whose last album was 2016’s ‘The Altar’ said of the track:
“‘Gimme’ is a song about getting what you want. It’s about knowing what you deserve, saying it out loud, and demanding it with no apologies. I’m ready to release this into the world and begin a new chapter.”
