The Lumineers Unveil Dramatic Video For 'III' Lead Single Gloria

Monday, 20 May 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

The Lumineers have shared a harrowing video for the lead single of their new album.

Gloria was originally released alongside details of 'III' back in April. Written by the band's two founding members, Wesley Schultz and multi-instrumentalist Jeremiah Fraites, the album is set to land on September 13 and follows up 2016's 'Cleopatra', with an accompanying world tour beginning with UK and European dates in November.

'III' is a visual record explored through three parts, with the songs from each chapter focusing on one primary character from the three generations of the fictional Sparks Family. Each chapter will be released as an audio EP within the full-length album.

The first EP, titled 'Chapter 1: Gloria Sparks', arrived last week and focuses its narrative around the family matriarch, Gloria Sparks. Discussing the first instalment, vocalist Wesley Schultz explained:

"Gloria is an addict. Her character was inspired by a member of my family, and no amount of love or resources could save her. She's now been homeless for over a year. Loving an addict is like standing among the crashing waves, trying to bend the will of the sea."

Videos accompanying the remaining songs from 'Chapter 1: Gloria Sparks', Donna and Life In The City, will be released on May 21 and May 22 respectively.

Wed 20 Nov 2019
With the economics of the music industry in a prolonged state of flux, bands have found new ways to get by. Cold War Kids, who burst onto the American indie scene with ‘Robbers and Cowards’ in 2006, have decided to release three short albums instead of one full LP. ‘New Age Norms 1’ is the first in that series and to longtime fans the results will be pleasing.
