Sufjan Stevens Shares Two New Songs Love Yourself And With My Whole Heart

Wednesday, 29 May 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

Sufjan Stevens has returned with two new singles in celebration of Pride Month.

Love Yourself is inspired by a sketch the singer-songwriter penned 20 years ago and arrives alongside a 1996 four-track demo as well as a short instrumental reprise.

The more driving With My Whole Heart, meanwhile, was written with an effort to make, "an upbeat and sincere love song without conflict, anxiety or self-deprecation," Stevens said in press release. Take a listen to both songs below.

The tracks will feature on a limited edition 7" single out in late June, with a portion of the proceeds from the project going to the Ali Forney Center in Harlem, New York and the Ruth Ellis Center in Detroit, Michigan. Stevens has also created a Gay Pride t-shirt that is available for purchase via his webstore.

The two songs mark Stevens' first new music since his Oscar-nominated contributions to the soundtrack for 2017's Call Me By Your Name.
