Blanck Mass To Release 'Animated Violence Mild' In August, Shares New Single House Vs. House

Thursday, 06 June 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

Blanck Mass, the solo project of Benjamin John Power, has announced a new album.

Power, who’s also one half of electronic noise duo Fuck Buttons, will release 'Animated Violence Mild' on August 16 via Sacred Bones.

Its eight tracks were penned during 2018 at Power's studio just outside Edinburgh. According to a press release, it was inspired by grief, both personal and global, and consumerism.

Head below to stream the epic lead single, House vs. House, which builds through a rapid vocal sample before bursting to life with a tide of synths and beats. Speaking of the record, Power said:

"In this post-industrial, post-enlightenment religion of ourselves, we have manifested a serpent of consumerism which now coils back upon us. It seduces us with our own bait as we betray the better instincts of our nature and the future of our own world. We throw ourselves out of our own garden. We poison ourselves to the edges of an endless sleep.

"I believe that many of us have willfully allowed our survival instinct to become engulfed by the snake we birthed. Animated — brought to life by humankind. Violent — insurmountable and wild beyond our control. Mild — delicious."

'Animated Violence Mild' tracklist:

1. Intro
2. Death Drop
3. House vs. House
4. Hush Money
5. Love is a Parasite
6. Creature / West Fuqua
7. No Dice
8. Wings of Hate
