Lana Del Rey Shares Two New Songs Looking For America and Season Of The Witch

Tuesday, 06 August 2019 Written by Helen Payne

Lana Del Rey has released two new songs.

Neither will not appear on the California vocalist and songwriter’s upcoming album, ‘Norman Fucking Rockwell!’, which is due for release on August 30. Instead, Looking For America is a standalone track written in response to the recent shootings in the US.

Shared on Instagram, Del Rey commented:

“Now I know I’m not a politician and I’m not trying to be so excuse me for having an opinion - but in light of all of the mass shootings and the back to back shootings in the last couple of days which really affected me on a cellular level I just wanted to post this video that our engineer Laura took 20 minutes ago. I hope you like it. I’m singing love to the choruses I recorded this morning. I’m going to call it Looking for America.”

Listen below for a live version of the emotional track, with Del Rey’s delicate and heartfelt vocals recorded in the studio with Jack Antonoff.

The second is a spooky, minimalist cover of 1966's Season of the Witch by Donovan, taken from the soundtrack for Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, an upcoming film produced by Guillermo Del Toro.

Lana Del Rey will support her new record with US, UK and European tour dates from September until spring 2020.

Banks - III (Album Review)
Fri 19 Jul 2019
‘III’, Banks’ appropriately titled third album, has been a short while in the making but feels like the culmination of the songwriter’s more ambitious work to this point. Five years since the release of her debut LP 'Goddess' the LA artist has shifted direction within her sound, infusing her synth-heavy trip-pop aesthetic with a jaded sense of heartbreak, maturity and raw passion.
