The Darkness Share Mini-Rock Opera New Single Heart Explodes

The Darkness have shared a new song.
Heart Explodes is a mini-rock opera that comes with a lyric video viewable below. It serves as the latest song to be shared from the Lowestoft rockers' upcoming 10-track concept album, 'Easter Is Cancelled', out on October 4 via Cooking Vinyl. Frontman Justin Hawkins explained:
"It's about the despair of change. Having to reappraise your life and what you're holding on to. It's like that feeling when you just want to go for a swim and keep going. Wanting to be enveloped by something that will gradually pull you down. If you really, really want to survive that process, you can. We've all been there - people who say they haven't are lying."
Guitarist Dan Hawkins added:
"The difference between the Darkness' sadness and other bands' sadness is that we don’t wallow in it. Even when it's sad, there's a playfulness to it."
Heart Explodes follows the previously shared Rock And Roll Deserves To Die and arrives as the band prepare to support Ed Sheeran on his run of outdoor homecoming shows, which kick off at Leeds' Roundhay Park tonight (August 16).
They'll support the album's release with a headline UK and Ireland tour this winter, playing 18 dates starting in November. Tickets are on sale now.
