John Barrowman Announces 'A Fabulous Christmas' Album And UK Tour

Tuesday, 10 September 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

John Barrowman has announced a Christmas album and UK tour.

The Glasgow-born actor, TV personality and singer will put out 'A Fabulous Christmas' on December 6, with an accompanying eight-date trek of the same name lined up between November 30 and December 14, calling in Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester, London, Harrogate, Portsmouth, Sheffield and Oxford.

The record will mark the 51-year old entertainer's first release on British label Decca Records and will feature covers of festive favourites such as Sleigh Ride, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year and Silent Night. Barrowman said:

"It's been great to get back into the studio recording new Christmas tracks. I love this time of the year, but this is the first time I've put together a full album of Christmas and festive music for the most FABULOUS time of the year.

"I had so much fun on my summer tour, bringing my husband Scott and my parents along for the ride, while celebrating 30 years on stage and performing some of my favourite songs from that time. I can't wait to be back out there meeting more fans during this festive Christmas tour."

Tickets go on general sale at 10am on September 20. Head here for pre-sale tickets.

How To Make A Sadcore Hit: A Lana Del Rey Recipe
Fri 09 Aug 2019
Lana Del Rey really has nailed her hazy, retro vibe and a nostalgic sense of sadness. Far from the usual feel-good factor of pop hits, the New York vocalist and songwriter has carved a niche for herself in the shimmery, summery genre of luxurious, melancholic songs that we like to call sadcore.

Lana Del Rey - Norman Fucking Rockwell! (Album Review)
Thu 05 Sep 2019
When Lana Del Rey’s Video Games attained viral status in 2011, it felt entirely plausible that her success would be a flash in the pan. Many critics (often male) derided her as a contrived, inauthentic pop star whose cinematic melancholia could not translate to long term appeal. Eight years and four albums later, they’ve been proven wrong about her longevity, and yet Del Rey’s multi-textured inauthenticity has flourished, and become a kind of defining brand. Sometimes you can be wrong and right at the same time.
