Fischerspooner are no more.

The New York outfit, led by Warren Fischer and Casey Spooner, abruptly broke the news of their split on their social media accounts, posting: "THANKYOU FOR EVERYTHING. FISCHERSPOONER IS DEAD LONG LIVE FISCHERSPOONER."

The band have been together since 1998 and only last year released a new album, the Michael Stipe-produced 'SIR'.
