Soccer Mommy Announces Second Album 'Colour Theory', Shares New Single Circle The Drain

Soccer Mommy, aka Sophie Allison, has confirmed a second album.
‘Colour Theory’ is due to arrive on February 28 via Loma Vista, and follows up 2018’s ‘Clean’. In a statement, Allison commented:
“I wanted the experience of listening to 'color theory' to feel like finding a dusty old cassette tape that has become messed up over time, because that’s what this album is: an expression of all the things that have slowly degraded me personally. The production warps, the guitar solos occasionally glitch, the melodies can be poppy and deceptively cheerful. To me, it sounds like the music of my childhood distressed and, in some instances, decaying.”
The LP features the recent singles Feed, Lucy and Yellow Is The Colour Of Her Eyes, as well as the latest cut Circle The Drain. With clear influences of Avril Lavigne’s softer side, the new track utilises acoustic guitars and a summery disposition to contrast with its lyrical themes of depression. “Things feel that low sometimes, even when everything is fine,” she sings.
The accompanying Atiba Jefferson-directed video shows Allison hanging out with skateboarders at an abandoned waterpark in Palm Springs. Watch below.
