Duffy Returns With First New Song In 10 Years Something Beautiful

Friday, 20 March 2020 Written by Jon Stickler

Duffy has shared her first new song in 10 years, Something Beautiful.

The Welsh vocalist sent the emotive, soulful ballad to Jo Whiley's BBC Radio 2 show for its first spin on Thursday night (March 19), almost a month after she bravely revealed via a since deleted Instagram post that she was raped, drugged and held captive over several days at some point in her past.

Duffy is not planning to officially release the song but thought it would be something "nice for people if they're at home" during these "troubling times". She said:

"You may have read the words I wrote a few weeks back. I feel freer. I wanted to follow it up with a spoken interview but it’s harder than I thought. I'll follow up in writing soon… It's just something for you to play people on the radio during these troubling times, if you like the song of course, if it lifts spirits. I don’t plan to release it. I just thought a little something might be nice for people if they’re at home if they’re on lockdown. Loads of love to you."

The 35-year-old quietly disappeared from the spotlight following the release of her second album, 'Endlessly', in 2010.
