First Previously Unreleased Song Shared From Tom Petty's Posthumous Album 'All The Rest'

Thursday, 10 September 2020 Written by Laura Johnson

The first previousy unreleased track from Tom Petty's posthumous album 'Wildflowers & All The Rest' has been shared.

Confusion Wheel was recorded during the original sessions for the late musician's second studio album, 1994's 'Wildflowers', as were all the other tracks included on the new record that arrives on October 16.

Despite being penned in the '90s, the track has a sombre, folk-rock tone reminiscent of the early '70s, with lyrics that are made all the more poignant following Petty's death. "One of these days my old friend, You and I will walk through that door, One of these days we’ll drive away, Drive away singing a brand-new song, We’ll wake up singing a brand-new song," he sings.

The legendary rock musician passed away on October 2, 2017 from an accidental drug overdose as a result of taking a variety of medications. 'An American Treasure' box set was released in 2018 to commemorate the first anniversary of his passing.
