Avril Lavigne Announces Livestream Benefit Concert For Lyme Disease

Tuesday, 22 September 2020 Written by Jon Stickler

Avril Lavigne has confirmed details of an exclusive livestream event.

The Canadian pop-rocker will perform a virtual concert to raise awareness and money for the fight against Lyme disease, a personal cause for Lavigne, who has battled the debilitating illness herself.

All proceeds will go towards The Avril Lavigne Foundation and Global Lyme Alliance. "I'm so excited to invite you to join me and some VERY special guests for #FightLyme, a virtual concert to benefit the Lyme community," she said in a statement.

"Since Lyme disease is a global pandemic but not a global priority, we need all the help we can get to eradicate Lyme. Not being able to bring my show to everyone in person this year, I thought it was a good time to have some fun while we raise funds."

According to the Sk8er Boi singer's official website, the broadcast is billed as fans' "only chance” to see her performing in 2020. It'll include her hits and songs from her 2019 album, 'Head Above Water'. The show will be streaming at 1AM (BST) on October 25, with tickets on sale now.

Back in May, the Canadian rescheduled her UK shows to spring 2021 in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Original tickets remain valid.
