Frank Turner and Jon Snodgrass have announced a new collaborative album.
Just a little over 10 years on from their 'Buddies' LP, 'Buddies II: Still Buddies' will arrive on November 13 through Xtra Mile Recordings. Similar to its predecessor, the new record was written in one day, though on this occasion it had to be done via the internet due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
Turner recorded, mixed and mastered the album — a first for him, and recruited Stephen Egerton of Descendents and ALL for drums and Todd Beene of Lucero, Chuck Ragan, and Glossary for pedal steel. Turner said:
“Lockdown has been such a blow to the music industry, and such a drag that we were all looking for things to do. Jon and I have been buddies a long time, and I noticed the 10-year anniversary of our collaborative album was coming up. Technology is such that we were able to reprise the writing method remotely, and indeed it turns out we've got a lot better at it in the intervening decade. I'm really, really proud of the record."
“BUDDIES II was somehow even more fun to make," added Snodgrass. "It even sounds better too! Frank mixed it & we enlisted Todd Beene & Stephen Egerton. So yeah, 2 more buddies. It’s twice as good, imo. I can’t wait until 2030! It’s gonna be three times better & we’re gonna do it at sea!!”

Despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, 2020 has been a busy year for Turner, releasing his 'Live In Newcastle' album in April and NOFX split covers album 'West Coast Vs. Wessex' in July. Snograss' last full-length release, meanwhile, came in the form of 2017's 'One Week Record' with Scorpios and he's set to release 'Tace' under his own steam on October 9.
