Boris and Merzbow have reunited for a new collaborative album.

'2R0I2P0', which can be decoded to 2020 RIP, will arrive on December 11 via Relapse and include the newly shared lead single Away from You.

The eight-minute composition slowly builds upon its atmospheric foundations by layering effective cymbal crashes, haunting vocals and harsh, industrial digital effects over floating melancholic guitar tones. Press play below.

The new record isn't the first time the experimental band have joined forces with Merzbow, aka Masami Akita. The two Japanese acts have worked together on previous projects, the latest being their 2016 joint effort 'Gencho'.

"This year was a period of trial for everyone in the world," Boris said in a statement. "This work becomes a monument to the requiem of the previous era. From here, a new world begins again."

In 2019, Boris helped celebrate the 20th anniversary of legendary post-rock quartet Mono with a handful of special performances in London.
