James Blake Announces New EP, Shares The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face Cover

Friday, 20 November 2020 Written by Sophie Williams

James Blake has announced a new record.

'Covers EP' will arrive on December 11, and comprises a selection of the Grammy Award-winning artist's renditions of famous tracks. He said:

“One of the things keeping me going mentally throughout lockdown has been the requests from fans for different covers and performing them on Instagram. It’s been a joy to discover new music and new ways of playing songs I’ve already heard. I might even throw in a surprise that no one has heard me play on socials before. I’m excited to share it with people.”

The new collection will include his previously shared version of Frank Ocean's Godspeed, alongside the recent cover of Ewan MacColls' The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face. Listen to the latter below.

The announcement swiftly follows Blake's recent EP 'Before', which arrived in October and marked the first extended release from the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist since his last album, 2019's 'Assume Form'.
