The Horrors are back with a new single.

The self-produced Lout serves as the title track and first taste of the band's forthcoming EP, due out on March 12 via Wolf Tone/Virgin Music Label and Artist Services. Other songs on the release include Org and Whiplash.

Lout finds the group making a stylist jump from the frantic garage-rock of their 2017 album 'V', to more industrial territory, leaning into a heavier aesthetic. Vocalist Faris Badwan said:

"Lout is about the relationship between choice and chance, compulsive risk-taking and pushing your luck. As a band, particularly live, we've always had an aggressive side and as we began writing new songs it became clear that we were heading in that direction."

"There's something about it which feels like a return to a heavier sound but really it’s a million miles away from anything we’ve done," keyboardist Tom Furse revealed. "Keeping the sound aggressive and the beats heavy was a central tenet, everything seemed to fall around that."

Bassist Rhys Webb added: "It's the nastiest music we've made since 'Strange House'. An intense barrage of industrial noise. A return to the spirit and attitude of our debut LP but blasted into the future."

The song comes with an unsettling short film collaboration between The Horrors and a creative team helmed by Bunny Kinney. Directed by Jordan Hemingway, the clip was scored by the band's Furse and guitarist Joshua Third. Take a look below.

Lout and Org will also be available on a red 7", limited to 1500 copies worldwide.
