Sufjan Stevens has shared details of a new five-volume collection called 'Convocations'.

The entire project comprises 'Meditations', 'Lamentations', 'Revelations', 'Celebrations' and 'Incantations', with the first instalment out this Thursday (April 8).

Stevens will release one volume of the album per week, with the soft, sprawling instrumental Meditation V unveiled as a preview.

The singer-songwriter penned and recorded the project as a tribute to his late father, who died in September 2020, shortly after the release of Stevens' latest album, 'The Ascension'. Each volume reflects a different stage of grief.

The whole collection will be released by May 6 via Asthmatic Kitty, with a five-LP vinyl box set due to arrive on August 20.
