Iron Maiden Reschedule Legacy Of The Beast European Tour For Second Time To 2022

Tuesday, 13 April 2021 Written by Jon Stickler

Iron Maiden have moved the European leg of their ongoing Legacy Of The Beast Tour to 2022.

Due to COVID-19, the original 2020 dates were rescheduled to 2021, with continuing pandemic restrictions forcing the British metal icons to rearrange those dates for a second time to 2022.

The reshuffle means that Iron Maiden can return to headlining 2022 European festivals initially planned for 2020 before the coronavirus hit. Those stops include Belsonic in Belfast on June 13 — on sale at 9am on April 16 — and Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium on June 16.

Additionally, their performance in Stuttgart, Germany will now take place at the Cannstatter Wasen, not the Mercedes-Benz Arena, which is unavailable. Their gig in Switzerland has reverted to Zurich's Hallenstadion as was originally planned for 2020, as this venue is now available again for 2022. Therefore, the rescheduled show at Basel's St. Jakobshalle has been scrapped prior to tickets going on sale. A statement from band Manager Rod Smallwood reads:

"Naturally the band are hugely disappointed, a second summer without touring, especially with this very special Legacy show, is very hard to take. They send their best wishes to you all, knowing full well you fans will feel the same.

"As we all know, realistically there is no alternative so we will all make the best of it and spend the time preparing for a very memorable and even more spectacular Legacy tour next year, we promise! Until then keep safe and keep smart."

Tickets remain valid for the corresponding new dates and ticket-holders will be notified by their local ticketing agency in due course.

Iron Maiden return as headliners for the UK's Download Festival in 2022, following the festival's cancellation in 2020 and 2021.
