Billy Bragg Announces New Album 'The Million Things That Never Happened', Posts New Song

Billy Bragg has shared details of his 10th studio album.
'The Million Things That Never Happened' will arrive on October 8 and comprise 12 tracks that lean on the singer-songwriter and activist's country-rock influences.
Produced by Romeo Stodart and Dave Izumi at Echo Zoo studio in Eastbourne, it was mostly penned by Bragg, apart from closing number Ten Mysterious Photos That Can’t Be Explained, which is co-written by his son Jack Valero. As a preview, check out the newly unveiled single I Will Be Your Shield, an emotional piano-based song that addresses human resilience. Bragg said:
"To me this (I Will Be Your Shield) is the heart and soul of the album. I've come to the conclusion that empathy is the currency of music – that our job as songwriters is to help people come to terms with their feelings by offering them examples of how others may have dealt with a situation similar to that in which listeners find themselves. After what we’ve all been through, the idea of being a shield, physically, emotionally, psychologically, really resonates."
He'll embark on a previously announced tour of the UK this autumn. Original tickets will be honoured, and the remainder are on sale now.
