UB40 Saxophonist And Songwriter Brian Travers Dies Aged 62

UB40 saxophonist and songwriter Brian Travers has died aged 62.
The musician and co-founding member of the UK reggae giants passed away at his home in Moseley, surrounded by his family, on August 22. A statement from the band confirmed the news:
"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our comrade, brother, founding UB40 member and musical legend, Brian David Travers. Brian passed away yesterday evening with his family by his side, after a long and heroic battle with cancer.
"Our thoughts are with Brian's wife, Lesley, his daughter, Lisa, and son, Jamie.
"We are all devastated by this news and ask that you respect the family's need for privacy at this time."
UB40 formed in Birmingham in 1978, and comprised Travers, Astro, James Brown, Ali Campbell, Robin Campbell, Earl Falconer, Norman Hassan and Mickey Virtue. Their line-up remained unchanged until January 2008, when Ali Campbell left the group. They have sold over 100 million albums worldwide, and are known for their hits Red Red Wine, Kingston Town, and (I Can’t Help) Falling in Love With You.
Travers' last performance with UB40 was at a concert in December 2019 at Arena Birmingham. In June of this year, UB40 frontman Duncan Campbell announced his retirement from music due to ill health and was replaced by Matt Doyle as lead singer.
