Lights Returns With New Single Prodigal Daughter

Thursday, 21 October 2021 Written by Jon Stickler

Lights is back with a new single.

Prodigal Daughter marks the first taste of the alt-pop artist's forthcoming as-yet-unannounced album, due in 2022, though a release date is still to be confirmed.

Cast over a vibrant, pop production, the catchy number arrives paired with a video that sees the singer performing the song, shot through a red-tinted lens. She commented:

"Prodigal Daughter is about stripping away all the deep-seated, oppressive expectations society and religion can place on you, in order to find out what you really want out of your life. Musically, the song is dynamic and wild; beautifully gentle at times and aggressive at others, representing the journey. Ultimately this is a banger about finding yourself."

Lights has also shared details of a new comic called The Clinic, based on her Skin&Earth comic series, named after her 2017 album. Written and illustrated by Lights herself, the first six pages of the story are available to read on its website.
