Idles, Young Knives, Amy Macdonald And Frank Turner To Feature On Independent Venue Week Live LP

Tuesday, 30 November 2021 Written by Jon Stickler

Idles, Amy Macdonald, and Frank Turner are among the artists featured on a new Independent Venue Week compilation.

Pressed on 180g vinyl, the limited edition collection will arrive in all good independent record shops this Friday (December 3) and comprise nine live tracks from 11 artists, recorded from 13 different venues from this year's Independent Venue Week shows.

Among the tracklist is Amy Macdonald at Glasgow's Òran Mór, Idles at Bristol venues, Frank Turner at Adlib Liverpool, Young Knives' Caravan Session, and more. Charlie Rickard, Independent Venue Week’s Director of Production, said:

"We're over the moon to have such an eclectic line-up of artists on Independent Venue Week Live 2021 from some wonderful venues around the country. We are incredibly grateful to the venues, artists and people behind the scenes that have made this happen. IVW 2022 more than ever will be such a wonderful celebration now that we can all be back together in person again. Having Proper handling the distribution of the record is such a natural fit as we both share the same ethos when it comes to the independent music ecosystem."

Amy Macdonald, IVW Scottish Ambassador 2021, commented: "I was so honoured to be asked to represent independent venues in Scotland for IVW 2021, without small venues I wouldn't be doing what I’m doing now, I’m forever thankful for the opportunity they gave me! Òran Mór is such a beautiful venue in my hometown, so it was great to get the guys together and do a few songs there, even if we couldn’t get an audience in."

Independent Venue Week will return in 2022, between January 31 and February 6. In October, organisers announced Wet Leg as their ambassadors for 2022, with the pair following in the footsteps of Arlo Parks, Anna Calvi, Novelist, Tim Burgess, Wolf Alice, Frank Turner and Radiohead's Colin Greenwood, among others.

In related news, The National Lottery and the Music Venue Trust have confirmed the return of the Revive Live Tour in January 2022.
