Khruangbin And Leon Bridges Announce New Collaborative EP 'Texas Moon', Share Video For B-Side

Khruangbin have announced details of their second collaborative EP with Leon Bridges.
The Texas-based musicians will release 'Texas Moon' on February 18 via Dead Oceans in partnership with Columbia Records and Night Time Stories Ltd. The five-track collection serves as an extension to their joint 2020 four-song 'Texas Sun' EP. Khruangbin said:
"Without joy, there can be no real perspective on sorrow. Without sunlight, all this rain keeps things from growing. How can you have the sun without the moon?"
As a preview, they've unveiled B-Side, a slick, hypnotic, psych-soul track that has a western theme running throughout its accompanying video, which was filmed in the J. Lorraine Ghost Town near Austin by director Philip Andelman. Take a look below.
Another song on 'Texas Moon' is Doris, which proved particularly poignant given its lyrical content. Khruangbin drummer, Donald Johnson Jr. explained: "The song Doris is about [Bridges'] grandmother making the transition from this world to the next realm. It's a very sombre, very deep record. And when someone places that kind of work into your hands, the last thing you want to do is junk it up, overproduce it, or do too much. We treated it with the respect it deserved, and treated Doris with the respect she deserves.
Bassist Laura Lee also commented on the collaboration: "It's like a short story... And it leaves room to continue having these stories together. It’s not Khruangbin, it’s not Leon, it’s this world we created together."
Khruangbin continue their current North American tour with a show in Royal Oak, Michigan tonight (December 9). They'll embark on a UK and European tour in April. Bridges, meanwhile, recently added a second London date to his summer UK and European trek due to demand. Tickets are on sale now.
