Megadeth and Lamb of God Announce Spring US Leg Of The Metal Tour Of The Year

Tuesday, 11 January 2022 Written by Laura Johnson

Megadeth and Lamb Of God have announced a second leg of The Metal Tour Of The Year for this spring.

Having already hit the road together for the first leg last summer, the metal favourites will kick of the new stretch on April 9 at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas and conclude the run at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania on May 15.

Tickets go on general sale at 10am local time on January 14. Support will come from special guests Trivium and In Flames. Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine said:

“The Metal Tour of The Year is exactly what it sounds like – a night of some of the best heavy metal bands in the world – live and loud. Anyone who came to a show last year knows what I mean, only this one’s going be even better. Do not miss out.”

Lamb Of God's Randy Blythe added:

"It was great to get out on the road for an incredible tour last summer with Megadeth, Trivium and Hatebreed so we figured we'd do it again! We look forward to hitting new cities with Megadeth, Trivium and In Flames, who we're happy to have over for leg 2!"

Trivium's Matthew Kiichi Heafy also commented: “The Metal Tour Of The Year was one of the strongest, most incredible Metal tours in ages – it’s namesake nothing but accurate. How do you follow that up? By doing it again – even bigger, even better, and have it play everywhere it didn’t on the first leg. MTOTYII – let’s do this.“

In Flames singer Anders Fridén said: ”We are excited to finally be able to join our dear friends in Megadeth, Lamb of God, and Trivium on this year’s, Metal Tour of The Year! We can’t wait to be back on the road in America and to reunite with you all. Don’t miss this tour it’s a juggernaut.”

Lamb Of God's last album was their self-titled 2020 LP, while Megadeth released 'A Night in Buenos Aires (Live)' in November 2021 and are rumoured to be putting out a new album at some point this year.

Trivium released their latest album, 'In the Court of the Dragon', in October 2021, whereas In Flames' last full-length release was 'I, the Mask', which came out back in 2019 — frontman Anders Fridén did release the solo album 'OFFAIR: Lullabies for the Damned' in December under the moniker If Anything, Suspicious.
