Wednesday, 16 March 2022 Written by Jon Stickler

The estate of the late Phife Dawg has revealed the artwork and tracklist for an upcoming posthumous album.

Executive produced by trusted collaborator DJ Rasta Root, 'Forever' will arrive on March 22 via Smokin Needles Records/AWAL, coinciding with the sixth anniversary of the legendary A Tribe Called Quest rapper's passing. The news was shared on Phife's official social media accounts, along with further details.

"This has been a long time coming," the caption reads. "Finally, on March 22, 2022 we release Phife 'Forever', the album to the world. For now, enjoy the cover art work and the track listing/credits. Longer caption on album drop date. #rootswemadeit"

Guests on the star-studded record include Rapsody, Q-Tip, Maseo of De La Soul, Dwele, and others. The previously unveiled J Dilla-produced single Nutshell Part 2 featuring Busta and Redman will also be included, along with French Kiss Trois with Redman and J. Dilla’s late younger brother Illa J, released last September.

As a further preview, head below to check out the title track, which finds producers DJ Rasta Root, V. Rich, and Nottz fusing piano and strings with samples of "forever" from André 3000 on OutKast's Ms. Jackson, and Ol' Dirty Bastard on Wu-Tang Clan's Triumph.

Phife Dawg, real name Malik I. Taylor, died in 2016 aged 45 following complications from Type 1 diabetes.
