James Bay Posts New Single Give Me The Reason

Thursday, 24 March 2022 Written by Jon Stickler

James Bay has shared a new single, Give Me The Reason.

Recorded at both Blackbird studios in Nashville, and in London, alongside producer Gabe Simon, the track was co-written with Foy Vance. It marks the first taster of Bay's forthcoming third studio LP, due later in 2022, though details are still to be revealed.

Unfurling over layers of gentle piano melody and strummed guitar, anchored by a thumping drum beat, the song is guided by Bay's souring vocals. Commenting on it, he said:

"I wanted this song to feel huge and emotional. It’s about that moment when you feel like the sun is beginning to set on a relationship, it’s about the fight to stay together. I want it to explode with energy when I play it live. It’s about feeling your heart beat fast and love racing through your veins."

In April, the singer-songwriter will embark on a UK tour for the first time in three years with his band. He also appears at Live At Cheltenham Jazz Festival in April, and plays a Live After Racing show at Worcester Racecourse on June 11.

Later in the spring, he'll accompany The Lumineers on the North American leg of their Brightside World Tour.
