The Mars Volta Return With New Track Blacklight Shine, Confirm Fall US Shows

The Mars Volta have returned with a new single.
Blacklight Shine has a jam-liked energy, dealing in dynamic percussion and weaving guitar lines, feeling like it could come apart at any moment, which has always been the beauty of the Mars Volta's compositions.
It marks the band's first new offering since their 2012 album 'Noctourniquet', though there's still no news on if it'll appear on the follow-up.
Prior to the song's arrival, the Mars Volta shared a teaser post on social media giving coordinates to a location in Grand Park, Los Angeles, where there was a cube installation "to tell the story of the return of the Mars Volta”, and premiere the new track.
Blacklight Shine arrives with an 11-minute video directed by Omar Rodríguez López, the band's guitarist and backing vocalist. Press play below.
Alongside the new material, The Mars Volta have also announced a fall North American tour, kicking off on September 23 in Dallas and concluding at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on October 21. Tickets go on general sale at 10am local time on June 24.
