Black Honey Drop New Single Up Against It

Wednesday, 18 January 2023 Written by Jon Stickler

Black Honey are back with another track from their upcoming third album.

Up Against It is a heart-warming, personal song written by frontwoman Izzy Phillips as an ode to her younger self, with the comforting advice to "give yourself a break, kid" when life gets tough.

Inspired by '90s grunge, with distorted guitars contrasting light vocals, it comes with a joyful video that finds the Brighton band changing into their young selves. Phillips said:

"This song is an open letter to my younger self. And to every young discriminated and marginalised person out there. I want so bad to give them an anthem that was instead of "fuck the world" would give them a screaming discovery of new found kindness towards themselves… Things aren’t always going to go to plan but I know that future you is fucking proud of who you are now. And you will look back on yourself with huge admiration. Give yourself a break kid, you were up against it."

'A Fistful Of Peaches' is scheduled for release on March 17, and includes the previous early singles Charlie Bronson, Out Of My Mind and Heavy. The four-piece will support the LP with a spring UK tour.
