Driven by rousing energy with lots of twists and turns along the way, It Hurts is the second single from their upcoming album, 'A Kiss For The Whole World', which is scheduled to arrive on April 21 through SO Recordings / Ambush Reality.
Following January's (pls) set me on fire, the track has a punchy bedrock of heavy electric guitar and serves as a rallying call to change our worldview and how we judge ourselves. Lead vocalist and producer Rou Reynolds explained:
"It Hurts came to me in a dream. Literally. Melody, chords, and fully-formulated chorus were all part of a dream that, thankfully, remained with me when I woke up. I was hiding under the duvet at 3AM, singing it into my phone, much to the bewilderment of my girlfriend.
"Lyrically, It Hurts is about perseverance, and the importance of reframing failure as a fruitful and, in fact, pivotal route to progress. Society teaches us we should avoid and criticize failure, when defeat and honest mistakes can actually present us with insights that light our way forward."
"In reality, we should be taught that simply to try makes us more than enough."
The St. Albans band will support the record with a tour of the same name this spring, which will head across the UK, Europe, and visit the US for a trio of gigs. They'll also appear at this spring's Slam Dunk Festival.
