CHAI Release New Single Neo Kawaii, K?

CHAI have shared a new single, Neo Kawaii, K?.

The groove-laden punk-pop track arrives as the latest preview of the Japanese four-piece's self-titled new album, due out on September 22 via Sub Pop. 

The follow-up to 2021's 'WINK' was written on the road, a first for the band, which comprises identical twins Mana and Kana, drummer Yuna, and bassist and lyricist Yuuki.

It was recorded between shows on their touring schedule, at Stones Throw Studio in Los Angeles, Ometusco Sound Machine in Mexico City and Grand Street in New York. Of the new song, Mana said:

"Everyone is NEO KAWAII! This is CHAI’s answer, this is a fact in this world! We can finally say what it really means to us♡ Everyone’s a bit weird. Everyone’s different. Everyone’s awkward, almost to a point that it’s hard to relate. But that’s what’s interesting! That’s what makes it beautiful. To everyone who’s pushed around by these notions, we want to tell you this! We, and all of our lives, are NEO KAWAII! NEO KAWAII is not just plain KAWAII (cute)- it’s cool, it’s strong, it’s kind, it’s warm!"

It'll be joined on the record by the previously shared cut PARA PARA. They'll support the release with North American, UK and European tour dates this autumn. Tickets are on sale. Head below for details.
