CMAT has released a new single called Stay For Something.
Soaring and emotional, the personal track focuses on a past relationship of theirs, offering introspective lyrics over a synth-laced, Americana-influenced production.
It serves as the fourth preview of Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson's new album, 'Crazymad, For Me', due out on October 13 via AWAL. Head below to view the accompanying James Slater-directed video. Thompson said:
"It's basically just about questioning why I stayed / suffered in a bad relationship for as long as I did. Trying to desperately find some kind of meaning in the mess and then being embarrassed when I remember the good parts. It's not very lyrical or poetic, it's just a lot of emotion and energy - this song, to me, sounds like going for a run at 1am with your headphones on full blast, screaming through the streets in order to get away from your problems. I hope that at least one person does that when they hear it."
Born and raised in Dublin, the pop singer-songwriter will support the LP, which was recorded with Bonny Light Horseman’s Josh Kaufman, with a UK and Ireland tour this winter.
She also has three US dates lined up for later this month and in early October, a UK in-store tour, and a recently confirmed third show at The Olympia in Dublin on November 30. Tickets for the latter go on general sale at 10am on Friday (September 8).
