Offering a hooky gang vocal chorus, spiky guitars and sharp percussion, the pop-punk earworm marks the Canadian band's first release since signing to Rise Records.
The track's accompanying video will premiere on YouTube at 5pm BST today. Vocalist Deryck Whibley said:
"When I wrote Landmines I had no intention of writing an old school "pop punk" song. It just came out really quickly and I knew right away that this song felt special to me."
It serves as the first preview of their forthcoming album, 'Heaven :x: Hell', which the band previously confirmed would be their last. They also announced back in May that they would disband following a world tour in support of it. A release date for the follow-up to 2019's 'Order in Decline' is still to be revealed.
Sum 41 will appear at When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas in October. They also have an additional "sideshow" at Las Vegas' Brooklyn Bowl in the diary for October 20.
Frontman Whibley was recently discharged from hospital after being treated for pneumonia this past week. On Sunday (September 24), his wife, Ari, shared an update on her husband's health, writing on social media that, "Deryck was discharged after responding so well to his treatments. He is now under the care of his mother who is a registered nurse and myself. The pressure and strain on his heart and lungs has improved and he is able to breath without as much pain."
