Green Day have shared another single from their upcoming 14th studio album.
Dealing in the trio's familiar sneering pop-punk sound, One Eyed Bastard marks the fourth and final preview of 'Saviors', due out on January 19 via Reprise/Warner Records. Vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong commented:
"One Eyed Bastard started off as just a riff that I had -- a shuffle, almost like a Black Sabbath kind of riff. Lyrically, I was just reflecting on bad times in life. That’s the thing about nostalgia, sometimes you think, 'That was an awful time.' Everybody’s got that ugly place in their life where they have to deal with ugly thoughts -- it could be like revenge or whatever. Thankfully, I have an outlet in songwriting."
The band, who changed the lyrics to their 2004 song American Idiot to slam Donald Trump during their recent Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve performance, have also confirmed details of free listening parties for 'Saviors'. Taking place at over 200 independent record stores across the world, beginning on January 13, further details can be found here.
They'll also celebrate the album with a world tour in the summer, which will also commemorate 30 years of 1994's 'Dookie' and 20 years of 2004's 'American Idiot'.
The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and The Linda Lindas will support on the North American dates, with Nothing But Thieves, The Hives, The Donots, The Interrupters and Maid of Ace featuring on the UK and European leg. Tickets are on sale now.
